I thought my songwriting was becoming a bit samey so I'm laying off the guitars for a while, and focusing on electric piano, a sound I love and that doesn't sound too "rock". I'm also writing melody-first at the moment, so basically coming up with vocal melodies I like and building the song around them.
I'm calling this style "Indie Noir"

Really enjoying the sparseness of it all. Nice saturation and plenty of space given for the vocals, sung with the right balance of distance and emotional involvement and nicely processed and mixed.
One of my favourite in your recent batch. Good things can happen when a guitarist stays away from his axe and tries something else.
